‘Cafés de Pays’

With its twelve registered ‘Cafés de Pays’ out of the total of 16 in the Languedoc Roussillon region, the Gard is the county in this region which offers the highest number of cafés holding the recognised standard of ‘Café de Pays’.

‘Cafés de Pays’ are above all friendly establishments run by men and women who want their cafés to be a showcase reflecting the character of this region. Proud of their produce and passionate about the history and traditions of the region, they are more than ready to talk about them to the locals as well as foreign visitors.
For this reason, the wines served in these cafés are all produced locally, and the quality of the coffee speaks for itself.

The cafés which also serve food, usually have on offer an ‘Assiette de Pays’, a dish or snack of locally made specialities sourced from nearby producers or regional producers, in the main part, hand-produced.
